As many others have said, the Rising Sun could do with a bit of an update. However the double room we had was fine for our needs, if a bit small. We had two comfortable chairs, adequate drawers and hanging space and the bed was comfortable. The shower had seen better days but worked well. The staff were very friendly, made us very welcome and served excellent meals, especially the breakfast. Read less

Fortunately we had beautiful weather and it is a lovely place to sit outside. Unfortunately food was basic with no choice unless you liked everything with chips or jacket potatoes and we expected, as being by the sea, seafood of some description.Breakfast was served in dark games room and toast had hair running through it! Carpet on stairs ripped and we thought quite dangerous. Bathrooms in need of updating as shower had mouldy tiles etc Read less

The room we occupied was barely acceptable. Damp. Cramped.Overwhelming smell of air freshener. Broken shower. No where to hang wet towels and the bathroom not cleaned during our stay. Poor food.

Never saw landlord/lady, only students (all friendly). Exterior messy, no flowers. Filthy glass in bathroom, no toilet paper. Sheet curtain in breakfast room. Breakfast bleak (but egg & bacon great).

"Good location but disappointing service."
Disappointing based on what we were led to believe from our booking. We had asked for the bay room in our booking but on being allocated a different room on arrival we were advised ‘Well you’ve got room 2! Did not expect anything glorious but cleanliness could have been better, the shower walls would certainly have benefited from some Dettox to remove the thick coating of black on the majority of tiles. Our room wasn’t serviced every day. A very pleasant location – thus our choice of booking Read less

"Lovely traditional pub accommodation in a great location, excellent value."
Spent three nights at the pub as I was doing the Roseland Trail race on the Saturday night. The Rising Sun was very convenient for this event and being right on the South West Coastal path for walking on the day after the race. The pub has real character and was in a cove that was very quiet and not too touristy but with great views. I spent three nights there with two friends and we were able to walk there from Megavissey for our evening meals so no problems with parking. Read less

Everything!. My room was a good size for a single with double bed and en-suite. Such good value as one person mostly pays extra. A nice, friendly traditional pub. Good breakfast and fantastic location
Dislikes:
No. I would have loved to stay there much longer and would heartily recommend the Rising Sun to my friends and family.
